The holiday airline Edelweiss Air has given the Airbus A340-300 with the registration HB-JMC the name “Flumserberg”. The traditional baptism ceremony was performed by Maite Nadig, former ski racer and double Olympic champion, and David Birrer, Chief Operating Officer of Edelweiss. This was in the presence of representatives of Bergbahnen Flumserberg AG.

The ceremony was musically accompanied by the brass instruments of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra. There is a reason for this, because in the summer of 2024 the St. Gallen Festival will take place for the first time on the Flumserberg, which gives the Airbus A340 its name. The HB-JMC was delivered to its sister company Swiss in October 2023. The four-jet engine was used there for many years under the baptism name “Basel”. In April 2023, this Airbus A340-300 was handed over to Edelweiss Air and “renamed” with its current name.

“Finding a sponsor region in Switzerland where the rare edelweiss actually blooms is becoming increasingly difficult. “But we have done it again and are pleased that the canton of St. Gallen is now also represented in our fleet with the Flumserberg,” says David Birrer. As a sign of the partnership, the representatives from Flumserberg placed an Edelweiss wooden bench in the shape of an airplane seat. Here, passers-by can enjoy the most beautiful views towards Zurich Airport and dream of their next vacation. Fast like an airplane.
